2025 Move Your Way Day

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) and Governor Josh Shapiro’s office invite you to Move Your Way! To acknowledge the National Day of Exercise and ODP’s campaign to encourage physical activity, Governor Josh Shapiro has signed the attached proclamation which recognizes, April 18, 2025 as Move Your Way Day.
What is Move Your Way?
Move Your Way is the physical activity campaign based on the second edition of the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. It offers tools and resources for individuals and professionals to learn about the Physical Activity Guidelines, shares its key messages and encourages individuals to become more active. Recognizing the health disparities and coexisting medical conditions experienced by many individuals with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, and autism, ODP is promoting Move Your Way in cooperation with the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Becoming more physically active can help lead to happier, healthier lives. Please share widely!

Save the Date! The 13th Annual Lifesharing Conference

The Pennsylvania Lifesharing Coalition invites you to save the date for its 13th Annual Lifesharing Conference. On October 6 and 7, 2025 the Lifesharing Conference will be held at The Alloy Hotel in King of Prussia, PA. The family-friendly conference will offer training hours for professionals, presenter and sponsorship opportunities, an exhibit hall, the Excellence in Lifesharing Award Ceremony, and more!
 
Call for Presenters!
The Lifesharing Coalition is looking for presenters for the 2025 Lifesharing Conference. The coalition invites you to present your knowledge to and eager audience looking to gain new skills. Sessions are between 45 and 60 minutes and include 15 minutes for question & answer. Topics of interest include but are not limited to aging individuals, medically complex children, respite services, recruiting lifesharing providers/families, safe use of technology, self-care, and best practices. See the attached Call for Presenters form for more details on how to apply.

TOPIC: Autism Spectrum Disorders: An Overview and Practical Application
Over the years the prevalence of autism has increased, Pennsylvania’s service delivery system for individuals with autism has expanded, and best practices to provide quality supports have emerged. To support the individual needs of each person with autism across the lifespan, an understanding of core characteristics must be established. It is also important to learn how the individual’s presentation of autism may change across settings and situations. This seminar will provide attendees with an in-depth presentation on core characteristics of autism and the impact of the characteristics on daily life, routines, and activities. A review of common terms and basic principles used to change behavior, teach new skills, and develop practical application of best practices will be included. Opportunity for discussion and engagement will occur throughout the seminar.
Who should attend?
Direct Support Professionals, Front Line Supervisors, and Program Managers supporting individuals with autism in residential and other home and community-based settings. Professionals supporting individuals in Adult Autism Waiver (AAW), Adult Community Autism Program (ACAP), Consolidated Person/Family- Directed Support Waiver (P/FDS), and Community Living are encouraged to attend.
Where and when will sessions be held?
  • April 1st PaTTAN East, 10:00 AM 3:00 PM
  • April 24th PaTTAN Central, 10:00 AM 3:00 PM
  • April 30th PaTTAN West, 9:30 AM 2:30 PM
Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
  • This training satisfies the basic autism training requirement for Residential Performance Based Contracting measures CN-DD/Bx.01.1S and CN-DD/Bx.01.1CE for all Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), Frontline Supervisors (FLSs), and program managers.
  • This training also fulfills 6100 ongoing training requirements.
